What is the French Galette?
In French cuisine, a galette refers to a type of flat, round or free-form crusty cake or pastry. Galettes can be both sweet and savory and are characterized by their rustic and simple preparation. They are typically made by folding the edges of a thin pastry dough over a filling, leaving the center exposed. Galettes are often baked on a flat baking sheet, and their appearance is charmingly imperfect, showcasing the natural beauty of the ingredients.
Remember that Galettes are meant to have a rustic and imperfect appearance, so embrace any imperfections in the folding and pleating of the dough.
