Almond Satay Dipping Sauce

This Almond Satay Dipping Sauce made from almonds is packed with delicious flavors! Typically the Asian dipping sauce is commonly known as "peanut sauce" or "satay sauce". It's usually made from peanuts. But this Almond Dip has a similar flavor.
It is a popular condiment used in many Asian cuisines, particularly Thai, Indonesian, and Malaysian cuisines. This sauce is made with almonds, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and other flavorings. It is often used as a dipping sauce for many foods, including grilled or fried foods, vegetables, spring rolls, and other dishes. It has a burst of flavor in every bite!

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup Almond Butter
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce, coconut amino, (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or agave nectar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
  • red pepper flakes, to taste (optional)
  • Water, as needed to adjust consistency
  • Chopped green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions
 

  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together almond butter, soy sauce or tamari, rice vinegar, agave syrup or maple syrup, minced garlic, and grated ginger until well combined.
  • Add water, one tablespoon at a time, as needed to adjust the consistency to your liking. If you prefer a thinner sauce, add more water; if you prefer a thicker sauce, use less water.
  • Stir in chopped cilantro (if using) for added freshness and flavor.
  • Taste and adjust the seasoning with crushed red pepper flakes (if desired) or additional soy sauce/tamari or sweetener, as desired.
  • Transfer the vegan satay dipping sauce to a serving bowl and garnish with a sprinkle of crushed red pepper flakes (if desired)
