Vegan Cauliflower Buffalo Wings

Vegan cauliflower buffalo wings are a plant-based twist on the classic American snack that uses cauliflower florets as a meat substitute. The florets are coated in a spicy buffalo sauce made with vegan butter, hot sauce, and spices, then baked until crispy. These wings are a healthier and cruelty-free alternative to traditional wings, making them a popular choice for vegans and non-vegans alike.

Ingredients

  • 1 head of cauliflower, cut into bite-sized florets
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 - 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup hot sauce or buffalo sauce (add more if like more sauce)
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons vegan butter or coconut oil
  • Optional: ranch or blue cheese dressing, celery sticks

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, water, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
  • Add the cauliflower florets to the bowl and toss until evenly coated.
  • Spread the cauliflower out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cauliflower is tender and lightly browned.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the hot sauce or buffalo sauce, maple syrup, and melted vegan butter or melted coconut oil.
  • Once the cauliflower is done, remove it from the oven and toss it in the hot sauce or buffalo sauce mixture until evenly coated.
  • Return the cauliflower to the baking sheet and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the sauce is slightly caramelized.
  • Serve with ranch or blue cheese dressing and celery sticks, if desired. Enjoy!
