Rinse and trim the string beans
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
Add the string beans and salt to the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beans are tender but still crisp.
Squeeze the lemon juice over the beans and stir to combine.
